The Move to Hemlock Street — 2019

Updated: Jul 22, 2022

God has brought us an amazing building, where all of our students can learn, grow, know the love of Christ, and reach their potential, ultimately making a God-sized impact on in the city of Hazleton and the communities where they live.

The idea of moving our students from our Locust Street campus has been in conversation and prayer for many years. The Locust Street building has served us well, but we have acknowledged that it is time to move on to a new home 40 years in the making. We believe God has called us into a mission to serve and bless downtown Hazleton. With this move, we will be closer to where He is calling us. We are honored to share space with Buenas Nuevas / Good News Church and expect that God will do great things through our partnership.

We are excited that our pre-K—6th grade students will be joining our 7th—12th graders at our Hemlock Street location. Having all of our students, faculty, and staff in one building will not only improve efficiency, but it will also allow for opportunities of pre-K—12th grade student interactions and unity that we missed out on last year. It's a beautiful thing to see students mentoring and encouraging one another. This is something that is unique about ICS and we know is evidence of God's grace in our school culture.

So many have contributed to the moving process—we are grateful! Some have been able to support our $500k Capital Campaign, others have gone above and beyond to finish the remodel over the summer, and volunteers have tackled moving desks, a 5,000+ book library, and much more. We are especially thankful to those who have prayed for this process. As we reflect, it's quite miraculous what has transpired over a very short period of time.

We anticipate great things from this new beginning. We are here to bless the city, and we are ready to take the next step in raising up generations of students who become lifelong learners, selfless community servants, and leaders of integrity.

Join us in celebrating this move!

  • Cheer Them In - Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 7:30 A.M. Parents, pastors, faculty, staff, financial partners and other ICS friends will be cheering students in the door as they enter a new building and a new school year.

  • Convocation - Thursday, September 5, 2019 Every year, we kick off the school year with convocation to give our school year to the Lord! Convocation is about coming together and understanding what Christian education means and how ICS partners with parents to invest in these unique students created in God's image. This year, in particular, we are greatly looking forward to celebrating "all things new" and giving glory to God! We are inviting not only our parents and school families but our financial partners and ICS friends as well.

  • Ribbon Cutting Event - Stay tuned! We will have a ribbon cutting event sometime in October. While we are ready to start school next week, we need a few more weeks to hang pictures and put finishing touches on the space before the great reveal!
