MAP Growth Mid-Year Family Letter

Dear Families,

We are approaching our three week MAP Growth testing window beginning next week. As a reminder, MAP Growth is designed to measure how well a student is learning critical skills in reading, language, and math. It measures progress over the school year and across school years.

The following is some information about the upcoming testing period:

  • Students will take the test at school during their scheduled times.

  • Students who normally come to school on specific days, but have been staying home to do online school, should make sure to come to school on the day(s) they are scheduled for testing.

  • During testing time periods, teachers will not be giving synchronous instruction. Please be alert to teacher communications regarding those time periods.

  • Parents who have online only students should schedule a time to bring their children to school by contacting Mrs. Lunney. These testing times are on Monday, January 11, or Monday, January 25.

Our schedule is as follows:

Week 1: Test Grades K-5: Tu-Fri., Jan. 12-15

  • Tuesday: Kindergarten

  • Tuesday/Wednesday: 3rd, 4th grades

  • Thursday/Friday: 1st, 2nd, 5th grades

Week 2: Test Grades 6-12: Tu-Fri. Jan. 19-22

  • Varied times throughout the week

Week 3: Make-up Testing: Jan. 26-29

Helpful reminders to share with your child:

  • God is with you! He will help you do the best you can to honor Him (Colossians 3:23,24). You also have to do your part to do the best you can. It’s also okay to ask for help. Your teacher/proctor is there to guide you.

  • You might get questions on something you haven’t learned. It’s okay if you don’t know the answer. Don’t just guess. Eliminate choices you know aren’t correct and pick the one you think is right.

  • Don’t rush. It’s more important to do the best you can than to be the first to finish.

Reports will be sent home in the weeks following the testing window so you can see the progress and growth your child has made. For more information about MAP Growth, visit NWEA.org/Parent-Toolkit/.
